‘Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the lawn

No green grass was seen, for months it’d been gone;

The sprinklers were placed in the corners with care,

In hopes that new lush grass soon would be there;

Broken lights were supposed to light up the trees;

But their bulbs were burned out and wires rusty;

And mamma with her work gloves, and I with a rake,

Had given up hope green grass would e’re take,

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,

I sprang from my chair to see what was the matter.

Away to the front yard I flew like a flash,

Threw open the door and made a mad dash.

The moon shown its light on something so green,

Gave a luster of midday like I’d never seen,

When what to my wondering eyes did I appear,

But a green and black truck with all sorts of gear,

With a kind, helpful driver and a pro install team,

I knew in a moment it must be Purchase Green.

More rapid than eagles the installers they came,

They whistled, and shouted, and all said the same:

“Now, Bluegrass! now, Zoysia! now Fescue Supreme!

On, Vista! on, Spring Rye! And on Eco Spring!

To the edge of the porch! to the edge of the wall!

Now dash away! dash away! dash away all!”

Then to the backyard the installers they flew

With their arms full of tools, and solar lights too–

And then, in a twinkling, I heard a new sound

The installers were digging a hole in the ground.

As I drew in my head, and was turning about,

They’d built a sub-base that was sturdy and stout.

They lined the sub-base with a weed barrier,

Then installed new grass on the whole area;

The installers they toiled with precision and care,

And the scene was transformed into something so fair.

Solar lights, how they twinkled! The new grass looked divine!

Not a seam could be seen, not one single line!

The Purchase Green lads then added infill,

And the finished product looked incredibly real;

I took off my boots to walk on the new grass,

And sighed in relief, I’d had green grass at last!

The Purchase Green fellows were as joyous as me

They clapped and they laughed and all were happy.

They thanked me and each of them then shook my hand

Then back to their truck each of them ran,

Back in their truck they began down the street

No finer folks I ever did meet

But before they had vanished, this team gave a shout,

And I finally realized what this night was about.

The Purchase Green team exclaimed as they drove out of sight–

“Merry Christmas to all, and to all a green night!”
